Ever tried to have a meaningful conversation in the brief time before or after church service on Sunday mornings? It’s practically impossible to develop real relationships that go beyond the surface level in those short 10-minute spurts of time while there are people walking all around you and the background noise of crowds drowning out the words of that person whose name you already forgot.
In the Book of Acts (Chapter 2, verses 42-47), we get a glimpse of what life was like in the early Church. As Christians, we’re called to model these same behaviors that are healthy for our spiritual growth. One such behavior was the gathering together of believers in their homes (verse 46). That’s why we have Life Groups at City on a Hill Church.
A Life Group is an opportunity to come together and experience “Body Life” during the week. Body Life is when the church (the Bible calls the church the Body of Christ) experiences deep relationships within a smaller, more intimate environment. Life Groups are small groups of people gathering in someone’s home where they study God’s Word and form friendships with other people in the church. It’s a time of discipleship, spiritual refreshment between services and great fellowship with like-minded people.
